Tegan and Sara - Heartthrob

It’s been five years since indie rock twins (no literally, they’re twins) Tegan and Sara Quin have released a record. Coming back in full swing with the new “Heartthrob”, fans that have been long awaiting their return will not be disappointed. The duo’s upbeat blend of pop and rock holds up very well throughout the entire 40-minute record as they construct music and lyrics centered around love and loss that would fit in perfectly in any arena setting. The lyrics are not necessarily groundbreaking, but their deliverance is what makes them thoroughly standout among most of the musicians in today’s scene.

Yet another incredible aspect of the pair’s music is that while it’s reminiscent of the standard indie bands you’d hear on the radio, they manage to craft a sound that is completely their own. A feat that is difficult to accomplish in a world where the word “influence” can really translates to “sounds almost exactly alike”. In other words: these sisters are not a band to be overlooked, by any means.
