On January 18th, 2025, Caleb Shomo returned to Columbus, Ohio and brought his band, Beartooth, to their hometown arena debut at The Schottenstein Center. Anyone who has ever seen Beartooth live knows that whether you’re up against the barricade or back at the top of the nosebleed section, the energy and passion from the band on stage can be felt with full force. That same energy was captured on a recording and released as I Was A…LIVE, an enthralling live album from the metalcore five-piece.

From the opening “holy fucking shit!” that precedes the start of “The Surface”, to the acapella conclusion of “In Between”, I Was A…LIVE is Beartooth at their best in the place they're most comfortable: on a stage, in front of thousands, playing their hearts out. Shomo is one of the most charismatic frontmen in the scene, having grown tremendously as both a musician and a showman since his days behind the keyboards and fronting Attack Attack! That shy., uncomfortable kid is now a full-fledged, confident rock star, performing the best music that he’s ever written to the masses.
