On Monday night at San Francisco’s historic Fillmore venue, Aussie band Spacey Jane brought forth an awesome sold-out show to an enthusiastic Bay Area crowd. This show marked the band’s second U.S. tour, along with their second San Francisco show following their 2022 sold-out performance at The Chapel.

The show was opened by Melbourne, Australia’s The Belair Lip Bombs, who performed with finesse and enthusiasm. The band is set to release their sophomore album, Again, on October 31st via Third Man Records, and they kicked things off with an album track titled “Again & Again”, eventually closing out their set with singles “Hey You” and “Don’t Let Them Tell You”. The band is comprised of vocalist/guitarist Maisie Everett, guitarist Mike Badvica, bassist Jimmy Droughton, and drummer Daniel Devlin. Upbeat and catchy, with melodies similar to Spacey Jane, they were the perfect opener for this tour. I’m confident that they will be headlining this venue on their own in the future.

After a thirty minute intermission, Spacey Jane was up next. The Aussie act is touring in support of their third studio album, If That Makes Sense, and they kicked things off in excellent style with “Through My Teeth”. Guitarist Ashton Hardman-Le Cornu performed his signature kicking movie throughout the entire set, while bassist Peppa Lane was smiling all night long while holding down her punchy bass lines. Kieran Lama kept the rhythmic heartbeat of the band moving as frontman Caleb Harper brought everyone together, crooning away fan favorite songs from their growing catalog. Most of the material from the band’s set came from If That Makes Sense, while pulling from albums like Here Comes Everybody, Sunlight, No Way To Treat An Animal, and even In The Slight.

This show happened to coincide with guitarist Harman-Le Cornu’s birthday, resulting in a fun moment where the band stopped the show to get the venue to sing him happy birthday, complete with a cake and shot from the management team.

Spacey Jane’s live show proves that they are a raw, energetic band, with a live show that never has a dull moment. Definiely don’t miss seeing them live.
