At The Gates' Tomas Lindberg Dies at Age 52

We are saddened to report that At The Gates frontman Tomas Lindberg has died at the age of 52. Lindberg passed after a long back with Adenoic Cystic Carcinoma, while required surgery and radiation treatment. A statement provided by the band on August 15th included a message written by Lindberg in March 2025, noting that the band’s new album had finished recording and why there has been radio silence for the past fifteeen months. The August update included the message while noting that Lindberg had suffered a health setback, was hospitalizd and was receiving dedicated care in a special ward “where he is closely being monitored around the clock.”

The statement from the band reads as follows:

Tomas passed away this morning following complications related to his ongoing cancer treatment. Despite intensive medical efforts, his life could not be saved.

Tomas - You were an inspiration to us all. A true friend, both compassionate and sympathetic. You will always be remembered for your generosity and your creative spirit.

You will be eternally missed.

Forever in our hearts.

Our thoughts are with Lindberg’s family and friends at this time.
