If you live in the Bay Area, it's almost impossible to put into words the feelings and thoughts surrounding the fires that have devastated the North Bay during the past few weeks. Entire blocks have been cleared by the fires, leaving nothing more than apocalyptic-looking remains of streets. People lost their homes, their memories, and some tragically lost their lives. Those not in the North Bay encountered the smoke for days and days on end, as it masked the Bay Area in a horrific cloud of black ashes and smog that caused every store in the area to sell out of gas masks for weeks. It's impossible to comprehend the damage that was done, but there is still hope. It's going to take some time for these families to rebuild, but it will require a great deal of money and time.
A number of popular artists have banded together to help with the financial side of things. Heavy metal Bay Area act Metallica, along with Virginia's Dave Matthews and Oakland's own G-Eazy, have teamed up to announce the Band Together Bay Area Benefit Show. The event will take place at San Francisco's AT&T Park on Thursday, November 9th. 100% of the proceeds from the show will be donated to Tipping Point Community, a local Bay Area non-profit organization that is dedicated to fighting poverty in the Bay Area. The funds will go towards helping our community in the North Bay rebuild their homes after these horrific fires.
